Simple success's of Homeschooling

Some times as homeschooling mom's we can get bogged down in completing tasks and assignments, and we start to worry that our child might be getting behind.   I had to take a step back the other day,  after I caught this little picture of my girls sitting together looking at books.  I need to stop measuring my kids against other kids, especially traditional schooled kids.  We spend time doing school together, my toddlers are learning so much more then I thought they would just through osmosis.  My oldest daughter is picking up books on her own to read, this is big progress for her. The fact that the three of them were all sitting together on the floor reading and looking a books and not killing each other was progress as well.  They sat like this for nearly 25 mins.  This is what I call a simple success!   Instead of fighting, whining or saying "I am bored" they picked up books and sat together, but quietly looked at the books, each with their own.  This in the World of MOTHERHOOD IS BLISS!!!  It made me realize that it is possible to have moments of peace in this house.  During the baby years, it feels like chaos and they are into each other's hair, sharing is something they don't quite grasp, and the tensions are running high, and as a mommy I am disfusing fights and conflicts the whole day long.  At times I have wanted to quit the homeschooling and moments that I felt just totally defeated in the last year.  My 6 year old knows how to push Mommy to the limits and her constant figiting, and lack of concentration can drive me banana's. However.  I must remind myself that she is 6, I too at 6 had a really hard time sitting still and focusing on one task for long.  I must give my children the same Grace space that I need to give myself, when a rough day happens.  I need to absorb the really good days as a blessing and a success, and let the bad days go.  Simple success, is measured by our love for each other, our completed school work, however little or much it might be, a meal on the table, kids who had playtime and got hugs through out the day.
