The little chickadee's Homeschool Room |
Yup, Can You believe it? The summer vacation months are coming to a close, and we are gearing up for our new Homeschool year. We have purchased all our new curriculum, and loaded on some new supplies. This year we invested in some Ikea desks, for our girls, this year we decided that having desks that can be pulled apart was a good idea. We have started unofficially today getting back into some school work, as we took a really long break after Auntie Katie passed away, and the new baby arrived. I have my own desk area and work space for some lesson planning.
We are getting back into things slowly as we adjust to having a new baby in our midst. So its gonna take some adjustment. Our first day back into school was interrupted about 20 times with the new baby, and children who used to having more freedom, and finding out that when we are doing school, it means mom calls the shots. So its just gonna take some time to re adjust to the new routine. Last year I ended up on a pretty relaxed routine, and we did not complete a lot of our lessons, So I am hoping this year we can be more positive and get into our groove a little easier. Most of the furniture in our homeschool room is from Ikea. I recently discovered that they can deliver to my front door. This is FABULOUS!!

Our Morning wall, and Read aloud space, cool carpet is from Ikea |
It means I could build our homeschool room from my computer, and I didn't have to set foot in the ikea store, which is about over an hour away from us. The little chalk board, has a white board on the reverse also from Ikea, it was inexpensive, the desks were bought on sale for $25.00 each, regularly $30.00. Easy to put together, took a screw driver, the screws are provided. They are simply a desk with 4 legs. I am happy how it has turned out. Here is to our second year being a better organized, and relaxed and Happy place...90% of the time, gotta leave some room for the bad or ugly days.

Mommy's Work Space |
I am trying to remind myself to keep our school work simpler, and do more things that they enjoy to to do included in their lessons. Gearing it more towards what they like, and not so focused on the book work this year. But also each of my kids have a desk or area that they can do their assignments or activity Miss Emi-lou, will be doing preschool this year, and Lady A, will be coming along for the ride, working on colours, and numbers and the Alphabet. Miss Tor Tor is headed into grade 2. This year hopefully we will be able to enjoy the company for more homeschoolers, and makes some new friends, and find our groove. My Aunt a homeschooling coordinator, said it takes at least 2 years to find your groove and the way what works best for you right now our kids are pretty little, and our routine will change as they grow. I look forward to spending time with my littles and working hard to find our rhythm, and reason to our daily routine. Right now it kinda feels like chaos, but I don't think I am alone in feeling like that some days or when the new year starts out, with a new human in the mix. So let the chaos commence!!
Blessings,
Mommy AK
